MAYA FUHR was born in Victoria, BC, Canada, but now lives and works in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In 2010, she completed a Cinema and Communications certificate program at Dawson College in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Fuhr produces engaging and elusive images. Her aesthetic voice is expressed through the use of pastel and a focus on femininity. The resulting work is both raw and surreal, featuring a sensual pairing of colour and light. Fuhr's collection is a combination of fresh fashion and non-descript locations; all seamlessly inhabiting an oddly romantic and intimate world. Still, it manages not to take itself too seriously, provoking curiosity and humour. Fuhr's gaze fixes on things that vibrate in tune with each other, creating images that resonate with emotion. An openness and honesty towards our private lives emerges from her work.
